Psycho-Semantics Institute

This is our research, education and training arm, based in Southampton.

PSI was founded in 1995 by Mike Garrett to train clinicians and therapists and disseminate information about the Psycho-Semantic model of therapy.

Mike has been used as a consultant by the BBC (TV and Radio), the Police, the Consumers Association ('Which' magazine), Good Housekeeping Magazine and several other national publications. Mike was a consultant to the West Mercia Police Inquiry into abuse in Children's Homes.  He has lectured for Portsmouth and Southampton Universities and the Royal Defence Medical College. He was a staff tutor at the UK Training College in London and is currently an External Examiner in Hypnotherapy for Sheffield Hallam University.  Mike has been involved in many research projects and has had clinical papers published in the European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis.

Among his other qualifications, Mike is a certificated Master Practitioner in Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy (U.K. & U.S.A.); holds diplomas in Psychology; Stress Management; Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Solution-Focused Counselling; has a certificate in Rational-Emotive Therapy recognised by the RET Institute in New York; and is a Royal Society of Arts qualified therapist assessor.

He has served as Chairman of the Association of Hypnotherapy Organisations; Vice-Chairman of the Association of Professional Therapists; Vice chairman of the British Association of Therapeutic Hypnotists, and on the executive committee of the British Complementary Medicine Association.

Mike now runs a busy practice in Southampton.
